It’s the opportunity of a lifetime for junior lightweight boxer Abraham “Super” Nova.

“I’ve been waiting for this call, for this time. I was super excited. I was very happy,” Nova said. “And I was like ‘OK, now it’s time to hit the gym and get back into preparation.’ ”

He’s been preparing for a WBC world championship bout this Friday night, when he will look to dethrone current champion O’Shaquie “Ice Water” Foster.

“Everything that we targeted at the beginning of camp, we have accomplished,” Nova said. “We feel very excited and very confident on how everything planned out.”

This Top Rank world title fight will take place at The Theater at Madison Square Garden. It’s where the 30-year-old Albany native suffered his lone professional defeat at the hands of Robeisy Ramirez in a 2022 featherweight bout.

Since that loss, Nova (23-1) has bounced back at junior lightweight, beating Adam Lopez and Jonathan Romero in his last two fights.

“You know, at 130 pounds, I’m strong, I’m able to give a punch and take a punch. I’m hydrated, I’m ready to roll,” Nova said.

He has stayed in Boston for the duration of training camp, which meant missing out on holidays and birthdays in the Capital Region. Nova sees it as the price to pay to become a champion.

“It’s a big sacrifice, and we all must make sacrifices for the things we want in life,” he said. “Nothing in life comes easy.”

Foster is defending his world championship for the second time with a 21-2 record.

“Biggest fight of my life. Biggest night of my life and I’m not going to let it go to waste,” Nova said. “I’m taking full advantage of it and I’m going all in.”

The fight card will start at 9 p.m. Friday on ESPN.
