When we first introduced you to Angie Dill, she was determined to grow girls' participation in wrestling.

What You Need To Know

  • Angie Dill's career has taken off following a great showing in the Junior Worlds in July

  • Dill made the Capital Region proud by claiming a bronze medal in her weight class

  • Her career is still young, but she has a bright future ahead

But over the past few months, her career has seen incredible growth. She recently competed in the Junior World Games in Budapest where her craft was on full display.

Dill finished third in the world in her weight class, helping the U.S. team take home an overall gold. She says it was an experience unlike any other.

“It was really cool going overseas," Dill said. "I’ve never done that before for a tournament. It was a very unique experience for me. I had really no expectations, so I just went in there and saw really cool things."

The performance has put her on the map.

“I do feel like I'm going to have a little more pressure on me now, but I’m going to try and forget about that," Dill said. "I’m just going to go on like I have before, like, ‘I guess this didn’t happen,' so I try not to think about it too much so I don’t feel pressure, I guess.”

Dill is trying not getting too far ahead.

“I am proud of myself, but I think people have achieved more than me. And until I get there, I guess I don’t want to be too cocky,” Dill said laughing.

She says she’s only focused on improving and making the team again next year.

“I hope down the road I can maybe place better," Dill said. "Again, I think I’d like to wrestle in college and see where that takes me, get to more international tournaments as many as I can get to before my college career.”
