Outside of what hand they throw the ball and the number they wear, there isn’t much that distinguishes Siena baseball’s Knapek twins from each other.

“We finish each other’s sentences all the time," Carter Knapek said. "We think the same, we talk the same, beside the fact that he’s a righty and I’m a lefty.”

Their baseball careers look just as identical as they do. Both attended Albany Academy before heading to the University of Massachusetts, then transferring to Virginia Commonwealth, then returning home to play for Siena.

“Our main goal was to stick together," Carter added. "When we decided on UMass, it was a really good fit for us at the time; up until now, I wouldn’t have done it any other way.”

“It’s one of those bonds, as Carter said, no one else can really emulate,” Brooks said.

Even off the field, Carter and Brooks are always together.

“We get haircuts together; I mean everything," Carter said. "Every class really in college since we left Albany Academy, we’ve had together as well.”

“Homework, going golfing together, that’s stuff I’d do with my best friend, and that’s exactly what he is,” Brooks added.

It’s a bond in which the duo push each other to be the best.

“[It’s a] certain level of accountability and excellence that we can demand out of each other that most people really can’t do that,” Brooks said.

“[We] absolutely get the best out of each other," Carter added. "[We] push each other probably farther than anyone else can push us.”

They’ll look to channel that competitiveness and accountability as they head into the conference tournament this weekend with the hopes of bringing a championship home.

“Bringing a championship, looking back on it in retrospect in 10-15 years, having my brother at my side and two high school teammates … that would be very special," Brooks said.

The Saints’ run will begin Friday with a doubleheader against Monmouth.
