Arena football looks to be returning to Albany.

Owners of the National Arena League's Orlando Predators have secured a lease agreement with the Times Union Center, with plans to bring an expansion franchise to Albany next season.

The Albany Empire ended business operations in late October, months after winning the Arena Bowl, and the Arena Football League filed for bankruptcy and ceased operations in late November.

There's no name announced yet for the next Albany franchise, but there are names being considered.

Spectrum News' Jesse MacWilliam spoke to Ron Tridico, a member of the Orlando Predators' ownership group in the NAL, who said they're "moving forward" with the Albany market and that details are being finalized.

The National Arena League has eight teams, according to its website. They're in Greensboro, N.C.; Columbus, Ga.; Jacksonville and Tampa Bay, Fla.; Orlando; Louisville, Ky.; Wheeling, W. Va.; and Trenton, N.J.

Spectrum News will have more information as it becomes available.
