A number of civil lawsuits have been filed on behalf of the families of some of the Schoharie limousine crash victims.

The latest was filed by attorneys representing Jill Perez, the mother of Matthew Coons. That follows lawsuits from family members of Patrick Cushing and Rachael Cavosie, both of which were filed last week.

The lawsuit for Coons was filed Friday in Fulton County Supreme Court. The lawsuit names members of the Hussain family and Mavis Discount Tire. The Hussains owned and operated Prestige Limousine, while Mavis is alleged to have illegally completed the vehicle's inspection.

Mavis is also alleged to have done "temporary" and "insufficient" repairs to the limousine, including the brake system.

Previous court documents filed by the criminal defense team for Nauman Hussain, operator of Prestige Limousine, say the vehicle crashed due to catastrophic brake failure. The lawsuit also claims the Hussains knew the limousine had problems.
