An Albany man pleaded guilty Friday to multiple charges stemming from his involvement in the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the United States Capitol.
Jonathan Munafo, 36, entered guilty pleas in U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C., to "assaulting, resisting, impeding or interfering with an officer of the U.S. government; knowingly entering or remaining on restricted grounds without lawful authority and while carrying a dangerous weapon; and violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds," according to a Department of Justice press release. Munafo, per court documents, was seen on video punching a Capitol Police officer, taking his riot shield away, and later trying to break a Capitol window with a flagpole.
Munafo, who was arrested in Florida but entered his guilty plea in D.C., is set to be sentenced next Saturday.
