The Red Cross is helping a family of five Wednesday morning after firefighters in Troy battled another multi-home fire late Tuesday night. One of the homes has collapsed as a result.
The fire spread to three homes near Rensselaer and Middleburgh streets. Only one of the homes was occupied, and the other two were being renovated.

Officials say this fire was difficult to respond to and could have an impact on that neighborhood for a while.
"Generally speaking, three buildings heavily involved in fire at the same time is going to tax a lot of our water system," said Troy Fire Chief Eric McMahon. "There's areas in the city where that's not the case; we have a wonderful water system here in the city of Troy. It just so happens that this is an older section and it wasn't able to keep up with the demand."
There are no reported injuries, and it's unclear what caused the fire at this time.

The fire comes days after a weekend blaze on Fourth Street killed a 7-year-old and displaced 20 others.
