Fire officials say it’s always a challenge dealing with a fire in a building the size of Shaker.
“It’s a very large campus here," Deputy Fire Coordinator Mike Romano said, "so we started off in the front of the building, and by the time the guys walked all the way to the back with all their gear, it’s very trying. By the time they get to the back, they’re already tired; now you’re on the second floor, you got to get the hose up there, you got to get your gear on, and it’s hot.”

Fire officials are still investigating how exactly the fire started. They say the damage shouldn’t impact any in-person school sessions held in the building this fall, though.
