Fire investigators are still looking into what caused a fire at a two-family home Friday evening in Waterford.

Fire officials say five adults lived at the house on Fairview Avenue, but luckily everybody got out unharmed.

They say when firefighters arrived, the front of the building was engulfed in heavy fire and smoke.

Although the Northside Fire District Chief says investigations are ongoing, he believes the fire started on the porch.

Firefighters had to work fast to stop flames from spreading to neighboring homes.

"We tried to put a water curtain down the side, to stop it from going that way, said Northside Fire District Fire Chief Shawn Gilbert. "Our crews got real lucky. We had a couple of power lines come down between the two houses. They were energized for about 45 minutes before National Grid got here and cut the power for us. So that kind of hampered our operations on that side of the building."

Waterford and Halfmoon fire departments also responded to the scene.
