A man was arrested at the Saratoga County Fair, accused of touching several young girls inappropriately.

Ballston Spa Police said four victims, all ages 16 and under, have come forward with similar stories about being touched inappropriately by the same man at the fair.

Ballston Spa Police Officer Cody Fabian said he and his partner were on foot patrol when they got a call for a fight near the Ferris Wheel with EMS personnel. When they arrived, there was a large group of people gathered.

“It was brought forth by multiple juvenile victims that this individual was walking around the fair property for approximately two hours touching the intimate private parts, both front and back, of juvenile victims,” Officer Cody Fabian said.

Fabian said two 16-year-olds, a 12-year-old and an 11-year-old all came forward Sunday night and Monday. He has two more interviews scheduled with additional possible victims this week.

“Most of this took place right around all of the rides and where all the food vendors were and there was [sic] multiple witnesses who were not related to these victims that came up and said, ‘I saw this person do this, I saw this person do that,’” Fabian said. “And all of the victims were strangers to each other; they all came up at separate times and reported the same thing with that information that’s when we took him into custody.”

Police arrested 34-year-old Daniel Marrano for forcible touching and endangering the welfare of a child. And Fabian says — Marrano has no record, not even a traffic ticket they could find — and he isn’t talking. But Fabian says police are concerned more victims might still be out there, and until police were called to the fight around 9 p.m. Sunday, none of the victims had come forward yet. One victim told police they were groped around 6 p.m. Fabian said he understands it can be tough to come forward.

“One of the younger victims said she wasn’t really sure what to do, was she didn’t want to get in trouble herself and we just reassured her that she won’t be in any trouble,” Fabian said. “And as a victim no one will ever be in trouble and we want people to come forward.”

Fabian said most of the victims had split from their parents to enjoy the fair with friends or siblings when each incident happened. He said now some parents have expressed concern over letting their kids go back.

“They don’t expect something like this to happen and from all the other officers and the chief I’ve talk to here in previous years this is never been an issue and that’s why were taking this so seriously,” Fabian said.

Police say they plan to add charges from any other victims who come forward — you can call BSPD 518-885-5033 and ask for Officer Fabian.

Right now, Marrano is not in police custody. He was awarded an appearance ticket because he has no previous criminal record. He’s due back in Village Court for arraignment on Aug. 19 at 5:30 p.m.
