The Troy City Council has passed legislation that repeals the city's Planning Commission.

The measure, introduced earlier this month by Mayor Carmella Mantello, called for the repeal of Chapter 71 of the Troy City Code that put the Planning Commission in place and the implementation of a new Planning Board. Five members will be appointed.

The commission faced accusations by city leaders of being inefficient and dysfunctional.

Those opposed to the plan are calling it "misguided" and "political."
