Newly sworn-in Warren County Sheriff Jim LaFarr said his office has been preparing for bail reform for months by adjusting staffing levels needed and getting services in place.

With many inmates now set to be released pending trial due to state law, LaFarr said he's keeping a close eye on what's to come.

“Some of those crimes are pretty serious, charges such as manslaughter,” LaFarr said. “So we'll need to be more diligent, more aware, more in tune with the charges and the families and the victims.”

LaFarr was sworn in this New Year's Day and takes over for Bud York, who served for 12  years as sheriff and did not run for a fourth term.

He has 27 years of law enforcement experience, rising through the ranks of the Warren County Sheriff's Office until his run for office last November.
