A man charged with multiple crimes in connection with a deadly dog attack in Albany had his court appearance rescheduled.
Omar Daniels, 44, was indicted Friday on manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide charges, as well as three counts of aggravated cruelty to animals, Friday in Albany County Court, according to Albany city police.
The charges stem from the late afternoon of Oct. 9, when eight to nine mixed-breed pitbulls attacked 60-year-old James Provost of Schenectady while he was in the backyard of a home at 594 Central Ave., Albany police said. Provost was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A responding officer fired his weapon, striking at least one dog, police said.
Daniels, who was expected to appear in court on Monday, had his court date moved to Feb. 7.
