The Rensselaer community came together Sunday for the unveiling of the Casey Frankoski Memorial Bridge over I-90 in the city.
Hundreds of people came out to honor the Army National Guard member who was killed last year in a helicopter crash along the U.S.-Mexico border.
Also killed in that crash was John Grassia, whose father was in attendance for the dedication.
The crash also seriously injured Jacob Pratt.
Frankoski's family talked about Casey's legacy and what this means to them.
"Knowing that something is going to be here forever remembering Casey has been phenomenal that's what our goal was after the tragic accident was to make sure that Casey's memory stays alive forever," Casey's father Jim Frankoski said. "She sacrificed for this country and we want to make sure that people know that."
