Schenectady Police are investigating after they say a 15-year-old boy was shot and killed after a party on Congress Street Saturday night.

Officers say the incident happened around 11:20 p.m. When they arrived, police say they found a crowd running from the home and found Dubar Knowles, 15, in the backyard with a gunshot wound to his torso. Police say they were also told about another victim, a 13-year-old girl, who was on Chrisler Avenue and suffering from a gunshot wound to her head/neck area.

Knowles later died at the hospital, while police say the 13-year-old is recovering and stable.

Schenectady City School District officials say Knowles was a ninth grader at Schenectady High School and the 13-year-old is a student at Oneida Middle School.

Officers say both of the victims were at a party at a home on Congress Street when someone or a group began shooting.

Carlos Cotto Jr., superintendent of schools for the Schenectady City School District, says social workers and counselors will be on hand and available at school on Tuesday for anyone who needs support.

"This is an extremely difficult time for our school community," Cotto said in a statement. "Let’s work together and support one another. If you are concerned about a student, please contact your school counselor so we can provide support."

No one is in custody yet and detectives are asking for the public's help. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Schenectady Police Department's tips line at 518-788-6566.
