Jim Jabir announced his retirement as Siena College women's head basketball coach following a 36-year collegiate coaching career that included his stints at Siena from 1987 to 1990 and 2021 until the present, according to an announcement made Tuesday afternoon by the college.
"After coaching for longer than I thought was possible, I would like to announce my retirement from the game I love," Jabir said in the statement. "I want to thank all the coaches and players and my family who have been a part of this amazing journey that I've been so blessed to be on. It's a bittersweet time because I was so proud to be a Saint once again. My staff and I have built something special here in Loudonville. I know the future is so bright, and I look forward to seeing this program reach new heights never achieved before. I want to devote my time with Angie and our son Jude moving forward as we start the next chapter of our lives. Thank you to everyone for sharing a part of yourself with me."
A national search to fill the job as head coach will begin immediately, the college said.
