Witness testimony in the trial of Kevin Monahan continued Friday in a Washington County courtroom, as his wife, Jinx, was on the stand.

She recalled being petrified and hiding in a closet on the night of April 15, 2023, when police say 20-year-old Kaylin Gillis was shot and killed in Monahan's driveway. Jinx Monahan said she saw her husband take a 12-gauge shotgun and heard him go outside before hearing two gunshots. She couldn't say definitively if her husband fired the shots.

Prosecutors requested, and the judge granted the request, that Jinx Monahan be treated as a hostile witness after her ability to recall certain information appeared to change during attorney questioning.

Monahan's defense attorney chalked up the fatal shooting of Gillis — killed in the Monahan driveway after she and a group of friends got lost looking for a friend's party — a "terrible accident," calling the gun defective.
