Pending board approval Wednesday, SUNY Polytechnic Institute in Utica will begin transferring its College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering to the University at Albany, according to SUNY press officers.
The decision to transfer the college is in hopes "to strengthen the future of SUNY Poly Utica without CNSE," according to SUNY officials, with UAlbany developing a plan to effectuate CNSE's transfer by December 2023.
Albany County Executive Dan McCoy commented on the news in a tweet Wednesday, calling it an "important move" for the Capital Region.
Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente responded to a previous McCoy tweet that has since been deleted, saying "it's a sad day when one region takes pleasure in another's loss."
