The operator of a golf cart died in a collision with a motor vehicle in Kinderhook, New York State Police said Monday afternoon.

The fatal crash occurred at around 8:40 p.m. Saturday on Route 9 near Maple Lane South, according to troopers.

The driver of the golf cart, Dopson A. Wynter, 60, of Kinderhook, was pronounced died at the scene, police said. Members of the Valatie Rescue Squad and Niverville Fire Department provided aid, and transported a passenger in the golf cart, Henry Griffiths, 55, of Kinderhook, to Albany Medical Center with serious injuries, police said. He is expected to survive.

Police said that according to a preliminary and ongoing investigation, the golf cart entered the roadway from the west shoulder and collided with a Hyundai Santa Fe operated by Heather Graziosi, 40, of Livingston, who was traveling south on Route 9.
