A motorcyclist traveling north on the Northway crashed into another rider and died early Wednesday, according to state police.

Laura B. Covarrubias, 38, of Glenmont, lost control of a 2021 Kawasaki motorcycle she was riding at around 7:47 a.m. after she moved into the roadway's left lane and struck a motorcycle driven by someone she was traveling with, police said.

The crash occurred between exits 11 and 12 in Malta, according to police.

Covarrubias was transported to Saratoga Hospital, where she was declared deceased. The driver of the other motorcycle was not hurt.

The crash remains under investigation.
