The parent of a child who police say was sexually assaulted by a school bus monitor while riding the bus filed a lawsuit against the Albany City School District in state Supreme Court on Monday.
In July 2021, the former bus monitor was charged with sexually assaulting a 7-year-old child while riding on a school bus, according to Albany police.
The former bus monitor, 31-year-old Ynnad White, recently pleaded guilty to first-degree sexual assault in Albany County Court, and faces sentencing on May 13, according to the Albany County district attorney's office.
On Monday, the student's parent sued Albany schools and First Student transportation, citing negligence in hiring White.
A spokesperson for the Albany City School District said it had no comment on the case, saying the monitor was a First Student employee.
