The New York Racing Association on Friday announced its stakes schedule for the 40-day summer meet at Saratoga Race Course, days after Gov. Andrew Cuomo said that live sports and entertainment venues could open with limited crowd numbers and approval from the state Health Department.

Racing fans attending the track will have to present a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of the event, and adhere to masking and social distancing protocols, NYRA said.

Details on attendance and tickets for the 2021 meet will be provided as they become available.

The meet will open July 15 and conclude September 6. It will feature 76 stakes worth $21.5 million in purses.

With the exception of opening weekend and the final week, horses will run five days a week, Wednesdays through Sundays.

The Whitney will take place on August 7, while the 152nd running of the Travers Stakes is scheduled for Saturday, August 28. The Travers Day card includes seven stakes races.

The summer meet will also include the Jockey Club Gold Cup and the Flower Bowl, both of which were previously run in the fall at Belmont Park.
