A side dish, dinner, or desert, whatever you call it, these old Christmas trees are a delicacy for goats.
Jeannie Thompson, also known as The Goat Lady, never forgets to lay out a feast for her friends Snicker and Doodle around the holidays.
"Collectively, they are known as the snack brothers," said Thompson.
People bring the used Christmas tree to her Poestenkill home. She says the trees are the perfect treat for the goats and the environment.
Snicker and Doodle started out as comfort animals for Jeannie, but along the way they brought joy to others, too.
"I offered people to come and see the goats and spend time in nature and that was so much fun," said Thompson.
Jeannie already has gotten so many donations from people this year that she’s at capacity. But she wanted to raise awareness that there are plenty of goat farms out there that would love to recycle your trees.
Below is a list of goat farms accepting Christmas tree donations. Just make an appointment.
