Noteworthy Resources of Albany, a locally owned and operated nonprofit organization, hosted a free community clothing swap on Saturday at Albany's Community Education Building. Tatiana Gjergji, CEO, founder, and facilitator at Noteworthy Resources, organized the event.
Gjergji usually spreads kindness through her Noteworthy Resources mental wellness classes in the Capital Region, but for Saturday, Leap Year Day, Gjergi decided to created the one-stop-shop for families in need; where gently used blankets, clothing, and shoes were donated to local charities, shelters, schools, and nonprofit organizations.
Gjergji says she holds this event knowing around this time of the year, some people do not have immediate access to necessities like a scarf, sweatshirt, or even a pair of pants. And for whatever items do not get picked up, Gjergi says there will always be a place to drop off the donations across the Capital Region.
"So what I'll do at three o'clock is pack up everything, put it into my car, and then I go around and stop in Schenectady, Troy, and Albany; whether it's churches, homeless shelters, or women shelters," Gjergi said.
