So going into this game I think a lot of people thought Ballston Spa would put up a fight, but Burnt Hills would win. It looked like that at first.
Burnt Hills kicked off to start the game, it was an onside kick in the Spartans recovered. They ended up getting inside the five but Ballston Spa came up with a huge stop.
All of that happened less than five minutes into the game, but somehow this was scoreless at the half.
Ballston Spa kept it more than close. They hit a FG to take the lead. Burnt Hills came back quickly with a Diamanté Sanderson TD. Usually Burnt Hills wins in this situation, but how about Ballston Spa.
Late in the fourth quarter, Keegan Zoller hit Tyler Beverly for a long TD which left the Scotties and their fans fired up. Then their defense came up with a huge stop.
The Ballston Spa senior class came up huge for the Scotties. This is the biggest win for Ballston in a few years. First year Head Coach Jason Ohnsman was beyond excited after the game, but in a classy move the first thing he said in our post game interview was “hats off to Burnt Hills.”
Burnt Hills is what many schools is section II strive to be; they are good in almost every sport and they win (and lose) the right way.
Let me tell you Ballston Spa Athletic Director David Sunkes has made some big changes and great hires and he’s turning Ballston Spa into another Burnt Hills.
