The Capital City Rescue Mission serves upwards of 800 meals on a regular day. For more than a decade, volunteers from St. Steven's Church have been pitching in to feed the hungry.
Those volunteers are among the 2,400 people who donate their time to serve more than 270,00 individual meals.
With the busy season of giving upon the community, the mission's director has big plans for those who need it the most.
"I just think of home for some reason, it's just home. People that come here [say the same]," said Rcihard Allend, Capital City Mission volunteer. "I want to give away 12,00 turkeys," he said, rather excited for the mission's upcoming turkey dinner.
Following Thanksgiving, the mission looks forward to Christmas — where Pastor Jones expects to hand out 3,000 meals and gifts to the those in need.
