ALBANY, N.Y. — Albany's new police chief is officially in action.
Chief Eric Hawkins started his first day of work Wednesday with a busy day.
He stopped by the Center Station to meet new officers, including a few bicycle officers.
Hawkins is familiar with the post, as he was a bike cop in Michigan for five years.
The new chief has a lot on his plate as the new chief, and says he hopes to focus on building strong relationships with residents and build up community policing.
Hawkins will be sworn-in ceremonial this Friday at 10 a.m.
