As the city reports the death of a second detainee on Rikers Island, Liz Glazer, the former director of the Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice, joined Errol Louis to discuss the situation at the notorious complex and federal monitor’s new report that finds ongoing 'dysfunction' at the jail. The report analyzes the first few months of the Adams administration, concluding that chronic staffing shortages are still fueling violent conditions.

The report comes as Gov. Hochul seeks changes to New York’s bail reform laws, specifically looking to add additional crimes that are eligible for bail.

And Glazer discussed her new publication, 'Vital City,' which focuses on issues of public safety, especially as concerns over crime grow across the five boroughs.
