Q: Why is the Northway always slow in Colonie?

A: Well, the first and most obvious reason is that it is a heavily traveled area, especially during morning and afternoon drive times. But long awaited construction is also causing lower speed limits and lane shifting.

According the New York State Department of Transportation, an exit ramp is being constructed to link two major transportation facilities in the Capital Region, the Northway and The Albany International Airport.

This is also an area that exceeds the average statewide crash rate, and this new Northway-Albany Airport ramp should ease those issues.

The nice weather is here and with nice weather comes a lot of road construction. So watch your speed and watch for construction workers.

This project should be finished by December.
