Holi is a South Asian festival that welcomes the arrival of spring. It’s rooted in Hindu mythology, but South Asians look at it as a commemoration of the entire sub-continent, its heritage and culture.
During Holi, communities play with colored powder, dance and eat. Holi celebrations are also held in the U.S., with a major focus on teaching younger generations.
Buffalo-based entrepreneur Akruti Babaria is the founder of Kulture Khazana, a company that provides South Asian children’s activities, books and toys.
“We have so much diversity, equity and inclusion going in the corporate world and for adults, but why don't we start it at a very young age where kids don't know any different? They are inclusive from birth. So, how about we just foster that through learning and play? And that's kind of the crux of the mission is just giving children those tools,” Babaria said.
