The calendar may not officially say it's autumn, but for Schuyler Farms, fall started on Saturday.

"The farm's been in the family since 1938, it was originally a dairy and we converted it to the corn maze in 2003," said Kenneth Macica, one of the co-owners of Schuyler Farms.

For 18 autumns, the Macica brothers, Kenneth, Tom, and Jerry, have welcomed families to Schuyler Farms' annual fall festival and their famous corn maze.

"When it comes to social distancing, it's perfect because there's plenty of people here, but you give yourself nice room in the maze," said Heidi Kane of Saratoga Springs.

And this year Macica says, they are so grateful to be able to do it again.

"We knew it was going to be a little difficult this year to take care of it, but we'll figure it out," Macica said. "I'm so glad we are able to since other businesses cannot be open and people are desperate for things to do."

So Macica says they've asked guests to make reservations to eliminate crowds, wear masks in certain parts of the farm where they can't social distance, some activities like the bounce house were eliminated and furry friends aren't allowed to visit this year, but because so many of their offerings are outside, things are relatively normal.

Racing rubber ducks is one of the many attractions on the farm, along with hayrides and more.

"I liked the zipline," said Adeline Richards of Queensbury. "We did the slide."

"Kinda sad we couldn't pet the animals, the kids were kind of looking forward to that, but totally understandable," said Starr Baker of Queensbury.

And in about two weeks, Schuyler Farms' pumpkin patch opens and visitors say they'll be back for more.

"Definitely. This is great for kids of all ages and adults," Kane said.

And Macica says to get your visit in soon.

"The season is short and before you know it it's way too cold, the snow'll be flying unfortunately, but yeah we want you to come out, enjoy it and do something fun this year for a change," Macica said.
