New York State troopers were honored in the Assembly Chamber in Albany on Monday for their understanding of those who serve in the military and with the department.
Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara and Emil Baker, of Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, led the awards ceremony.
Retired Captain Daniel Larkin and Troop G Commander Major Robert Patnaude received the Patriotic Employer Award by another trooper who is currently serving in Kuwait.
Patnaude said he tries to give his troopers the support they need.
"Currently, we have 38 troopers that are also reserves out of the 500 or so that work in Troop G. It's a big obligation for them, and we just try to give them as much support as we can to serve both roles," Patnaude said.
Spectrum News' Marisa Jacques and Chief Photographer Steve Kameka were also given a Seven Seals Award for their reporting on the National Guard and its "Boss Lift" program.
