The Rensselaer County Legislature unanimously passed a measure urging the State Department of Health to monitor air quality around the City of Rensselaer.
This is in response to complaints about excessive dust and odor at the Dunn Landfill, as well as truck traffic in and out of the site.
The county wants air monitors to be placed at several locations for 30 to 60 days.
Earlier this year, the DEC stepped up its enforcement of the Dunn Landfill site, including ordering owners to mitigate blowing dust.
The landfill was also required to pay for community projects, including a new playground, tree plantings, barriers and storm water runoff improvements.
