1. Hoosick Falls to adopt new water source a decade after PFOA was discovered in water supply

Hoosick Falls is starting a new journey with its water infrastructure. The village Board of Trustees is meeting Monday evening to activate a new water source and permanent filtration system.

2. Oliver Robinson retiring after 20 years as Shenendehowa superintendent

Born in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, Robinson moved to south Florida at age 7 before graduating from Brown University and the state University at Albany and becoming a school administrator at one of the Capital Region's largest school districts, serving more than 9,000 students in southern Saratoga County. 

3. Plea deals offered to 10 prison workers charged in Robert Brooks death

All 10 prison guards charged in connection with the death of Robert Brooks at Marcy Correctional Facility have been offered a plea deal. Each defendant and their attorneys were at a pretrial conference in Oneida County on Monday.

4. In Lithuania, 3 U.S. soldiers found dead in armored vehicle; 1 still missing

Three of the U.S. Army soldiers who went missing in Lithuania have been found dead in their armored vehicle that was pulled from a swampy area early Monday, according to U.S. Army Europe and Africa Command. Another soldier is still missing. The bodies of the three soldiers were recovered after a massive six-day effort by U.S., Polish and Lithuanian armed forces and authorities to dig the M88 Hercules vehicle out of a peat bog at the expansive General Silvestras Žukauskas training ground in the town of Pabradė.

5. Earthquake compounds humanitarian crisis in Myanmar, where death toll has passed 1,700

A massive earthquake that rocked Myanmar could exacerbate hunger and disease outbreaks in a country already wracked by food shortages, mass displacement and civil war, aid groups and the United Nations warned Monday. The official death toll climbed past 1,700, but the true figure is feared to be much higher.

6. Elon Musk hands out $1 million payments after Wisconsin Supreme Court declines request to stop him

Elon Musk gave out $1 million checks on Sunday to two Wisconsin voters, declaring them spokespeople for his political group, ahead of a Wisconsin Supreme Court election that the tech billionaire cast as critical to President Donald Trump’s agenda and “the future of civilization.”
