Rotterdam Police were aided by state troopers and a hazmat team as they carried out a morning drug raid at a home in the town, arresting one Friday.
Nicholas Ferraro is facing a number of charges. Police served a search warrant at around 4:30 a.m. at Ferraro’s Van Wormer Road home.
They say he was operating a smaller scale meth lab in his garage. A hazmat crew recovered meth and lab materials. Police say it appears Ferraro was making the drug for his own use.
The home is very close to the Mohonasen middle school and high school.
Police tell us Ferraro's 7-year-old son was living with him. The child is safe and is now with other family, but police still call it concerning that he was there.
Police also allege Ferraro previously sold a prescription drug to a police informant. He's been arraigned, and is being held pending $35,000 bail.
