New information has been released about a stabbing in Rensselaer on Friday, where one 16-year-old is charged with attempted murder for stabbing another 16-year-old.

The East Greenbush Central School District is now confirming both teens were students at Columbia High School.

They say the school is making counselors available to students.

Rensselaer Police were called to First Street and Harrison Ave around 8:30 p.m. Friday.

Police say they found a 16-year-old male stabbed in the chest.

He was rushed to Albany Medical Center, and surgeons were able to stabilize him.

The teen suspect's name is being withheld because of his age.

Aside from the attempted murder charges, he is also facing charges for assault, and criminal possession of a weapon.
