Police have released details in the double-murder suicide that took place Friday afternoon in Ballston Spa.

Jennifer Jones, 43, Emma Jones, 12, and Steven Jones, 46, were found dead at 723 Adams Circle.

Police forced entry into the home after seeing an individual on the ground through a living room window.

Ballston Spa School District opened after a one-hour delay Monday morning. Students and faculty are in the early stages of grieving the death of Emma, a seventh grader.

The district’s crisis team will be meeting with both students and faculty. Emma was last at school on Wednesday.

Ballston Spa Superintendent Ken Slentz, in an email to the community, said a candlelight vigil to remember Emma is set for 6 p.m. Tuesday on the high school football field.

Police responded to the home as part of a welfare check for Steven Jones after he did not show up for work.

Both Jennifer and Emma Jones were found dead in separate bedrooms as a result of gunshot wounds from a long gun. Steven Jones was found dead in the living room with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Three pets were also found in the home unharmed. The investigation is ongoing.
