A police press conference is announced in the investigation into a double murder suicide in Ballston Spa.

Police in the village and State police are set to give that conference at 3:00 p.m., at the Ballston Spa Police Department.

Friday, Ballston Spa officers responded to a home on Adams Circle around 3:00 p.m., where they found three people dead inside. Ballston Spa PD confirmed to Spectrum News the case is a double murder suicide.

A senior law enforcement source tells Spectrum News it is likely the three were dead for at least a couple days.

Neighbors tell us the three people who lived at the home were a mom, dad, and teenage girl. They say the family kept to themselves, and they never sensed anything wrong in the home or with the family.

“When something like this happens, there's always a person like me who says you wouldn't expect it to happen,” said neighbor Steve Fitzpatrick. “It's a quiet neighborhood, but I've been here 22 years and it is a quiet neighborhood, and it's a family neighborhood and it's a friendly place, so no, you wouldn't expect it."

The Ballston Spa Police Chief said last night that no details on the identity of the deceased will be released until next of kin are notified, and the investigation proceeds.

State Police tell us they are assisting Ballston Spa Police.

Ballston Spa Superintendent Kenneth Slentz sent Spectrum News the below statement Friday evening.

"At this point, we have not been informed of any official details from the investigation. We know there is a possibility that one of our students was involved and have informed staff accordingly. Otherwise, we are waiting for notification from the senior investigator on the scene at which time we will notify parents," Slentz said.

Slentz said school officials will also be present at the press conference later, joining law enforcement as they share more information in the case.

Here at Spectrum News we continue to track this story closely, and we will bring you whatever we learn from police, this afternoon.
