Albany County's COVID-19-related hospitalizations are now at their highest rate since mid-February.
County Executive Dan McCoy reported Friday that 35 new hospitalizations since Tuesday, with 14 of them in the last day, brings Albany County's total to 52. Four are in intensive care.
"This is one of the most concerning updates I've provided in a long time," McCoy said in a statement.
There are 265 new positive cases since Thursday, and 765 since the last county update Tuesday. That moves the county's seven-day average of new positive cases back above the 200 mark, to 211.
One new reported death, of a woman in her 60s, brings Albany County's death toll since the pandemic's start to 552.
As of Thursday, 81.8% of Albany Countians have received at least one vaccine dose, with 74.3% having gotten both doses.
The county is asking people who test positive using at-home kits to submit those results on their website through this online link.
