COVID-19 booster shots are available immediately for certain approved groups, and are available locally.

The shot is for anyone 65 and older, or people 18 and older who have an underlying condition or work in a high-risk environment.

In addition to helping protect those who get the shot, health officials hope the booster dose of the vaccine will help shield others who may be at high risk for severe infection.

Right now, the Pfizer-BioNTech shot is the only vaccine approved for a third dose. That means in order to get the third shot, you must have had the first two doses of the Pfizer vaccine at least six months ago, in addition to meeting the other eligibility criteria.

  • If you're looking to get the booster shot, it's available at several local clinics, as well as Price Chopper/Market 32 pharmacies. You have to first make an appointment at pricechopper.com/covidvaccine.
  • In Warren County, you can attend their third dose clinic this afternoon from 3-4 p.m. at their COVID-19 testing facility. First doses of all three vaccines will be available after that, from 4:30-6:30 p.m.
  • In Rensselaer County, the Vax Bus will visit Hudson Valley for students and employees from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. today outside the campus center. For more information, call the county health department at (518) 270-2655.
