Crossgates Mall closed its indoor shopping on March 19. Since then, some stores have offered curbside pick-up.

But Friday was the first day the mall reopened to indoor customers. The state is allowing malls with the proper air filtration system to open to shoppers.

What You Need To Know

  • Crossgates Mall closed indoor shopping in March

  • Shoppers must wear a mask, walk in certain traffic directions, and maintain six feet of distance from others

  • Several stores are limiting the number of customers at one time

Crossgates is also taking a number of other precautions. Shoppers are required to wear masks, walk in certain directions, and keep social distance.

Customers say they are fine with the new guidelines and are happy to get back to normal.

"Social distancing is important, but we want to shop, too, so when you're in line, keep six feet behind the person that's ahead of you and try not to be close to anybody. Get what you want; just be safe," says Mike Feener, a local shopper.

The amount of people inside the mall on Friday remained low, with several stores not yet reopened. It's expected more stores will open in the coming days.
