A group of students at Edmund J. O’Neal Middle School were sent to the hospital for consuming “edibles.”
Principal David Bernsley said it's because they all ate a "drug-infused edible substance” that one of the students brought to school.
After they began to display symptoms like nausea and disorientation, the school called an ambulance to take them to Albany Medical Center.
All six were treated and released.
A package containing some of the edibles has since been confiscated.
Bernsley says the school's medical director and nursing staff discussed the risks of illegal drugs with students and school support staff will be working with teachers to continue those conversations on Wednesday.
He also asks that parents discuss those risks with their children at home.
