More details have been released by the Buffalo Diocese after another priest was put on administrative leave last week.

Father Jeffrey Nowak was removed from ministry at Our Lady of Help Christians on Union Road in Cheektowaga.

Bishop Richard Malone said he had received complaints about the priest.

The Diocese is now saying it’s made significant developments into Nowak's investigation.

The Diocese says Malone directed Nowak to undergo a behavioral assessment, which he refused. That's when Malone made the call to put him on leave.

The Diocese says it has never received allegations of Nowak engaging in sexual misconduct. The allegations against Nowak are for "questionable behavior" the Diocese says was not a threat to the public.

This all coincides with Malone recommending that his secretary, Father Ryszard Biernat, take a personal leave of absence because it was apparent the publicity around the Fr. Nowak investigation might lead to the publication of a letter Biernat had reportedly written to a seminarian.

Spectrum News does not know that contents of that letter, but Malone says it could have caused Biernat and the Diocese embarrassment.
