Twenty NHL seasons weren't enough for retired goaltender Craig Anderson, who is officially joining the Buffalo Sabres staff as an internal mentorship role under the title "hockey liaison."

The 42-year-old officially retired in Buffalo's home finale on April 13 after a 30-save overtime win over the team he spent most of his career with, the Ottawa Senators.

"I think I left it all out there. At the end of the day, I did everything I possibly could to make sure that I was competitive and gave the team a chance to win," Anderson said after the game. "You've got to be honest with yourself. And that's just the way this game goes. Father Time always catches up to you."

Anderson tallied a career 319-275-71 record, ranking fifth among American-born goaltenders in wins and games played (709). The Park Ridge, Illinois native also owns the third-most shutouts by an American-born netminder with 43, just one behind fellow Sabres alum Ryan Miller.

Affectionately known as "Young Guy Andy" around the Sabres, who continue to have the youngest roster in the NHL for the second year in a row, Anderson has been around the team on multiple occasions since the new season began.
