The Buffalo Sabres on Friday announced they have signed goaltender Devon Levi to a three-year, entry-level deal.
Levi, 21, is considered the Sabres' top prospect and has had a decorated young career while playing for Northeastern University.
He won the Mike Richter Award as the best goalie in college, led the NCAA with a .952 save percentage, and was named a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award (top player in college hockey) in the 2021-22 season. This past season, Levi again led the NCAA in save percentage and was named Hockey East Player of the Year. He is, again, a finalist for the Richter Award and the Hobey Baker.
Levi made a name for himself on the world stage as the starting goaltender for Team Canada at the 2021 World Junior Championships. He ended the tournament with a .964 save percentage, setting a new all-time record, and came away with a silver medal.
Levi was drafted the by the Florida Panthers in the 7th round of the 2020 NHL Draft. The Sabres acquired Levi's NHL rights from the Panthers in a package for forward Sam Reinhart in July 2021.
He will wear number 27 with the team.
