BUFFALO, N.Y. — The first Republican candidate entered the race for Erie County executive on Monday.
Chrissy Casilio held a news conference to announce her candidacy. She also received an endorsement from the GOP.
Casilio graduated from Clarence High School and received a degree in journalism from the University at Buffalo. She also owns her own business called Casilio Communications.
"I am here today because I am a lifelong Western New Yorker, business owner, community leader and concerned citizen," said Casilio. "I want everyone in Erie County to have a better chance to pursue their dreams, keep their families safe, earn a living and have the best life possible in the community we all love."
On the Democratic side — incumbent Mark Poloncarz recently announced his re-election bid. Former Grand Island town supervisor and two-time congressional candidate Nate McMurray announced Monday he dropped out of the race to, in part, "fight other fights."
