Jahan Dotson stands 5'11" and 178 lbs.
For some, that's not ideal for a wide receiver in the NFL.
"Size obviously not a big factor to me just because it was something I was born with," Dotson said at the NFL Combine in early March. "God-given. God has let me play at a high level of football, so I'm not really focused on just my size. Obviously getting bigger in the weight room, that's always something I'm trying to do. Just excelling in my football skills, learning from vets, and making my game work."
The tape shows size didn't slow down Dotson at Penn State. He's second in program history with 183 career receptions as well as 25 career receiving touchdowns. His 2,757 career receiving yards rank fourth all-time.
Dotson capped things with the Nittany Lions with a 3rd team All-American season, grabbing 91 receptions for 1,182 yards and 12 TDs.
He also has great return abilities, adding another PSU record with a career punt return average of 17.8 yards per return as well as single-season mark at 24.6 (2020).
The tape tells another story. Dotson an All-Big Ten selection all three seasons at Penn State... and added third-team All-American to the resume this past year after reeling in 91 receptions for nearly 12-hundred yards and 12 touchdowns.
Dotson also very good as a return man... including setting the Penn State single-season record by averaging over 24-and-a-half yards per punt return in 20-20.
Coaching changes throughout his time in Happy Valley also brought about different offensive systems Dotson played in, something he feels will benefit him transitioning to the NFL.
"It's actually one of the great keys I take pride in in my game just because I know so much terminology in the football world," Dotson said. "So going from coach to coach it's a great factor for me. Just learning different terminologies coaches use, preparing me for the NFL."
Dotson ran a 4.43 second 40 yard dash time at the Combine.
He's expected to be a later 1st to 2nd round pick.
