One child has died and two more are in critical condition after a fire in Batavia Thursday morning, according to the Batavia Police Department.
Police say the three children were pulled from a burning apartment in a house on Vine Street and were taken first to United Memorial Medical Center and then to Strong Memorial Hospital.
Officers say a 10-year-old boy died at the hospital. The two other children, ages 4 and 12, remain at Strong. Officials say all three victims are siblings.
Investigators said the three children were alone in the apartment when the fire was called in by a downstairs neighbor shortly before 1 a.m.
A cause has yet to be determined and anyone with information is encouraged to call the Batavia Police Department's Detective Bureau at 585-345-6444.
