Erie County residents are being warned of a new scam surrounding the deed to their home.

According to Erie County Clerk Mickey Kearns, residents have been getting mailed letters requesting they pay for a copy of the deed to their home.

This is a scam and if you get such a letter, you should throw it out.

If you want to purchase a copy of a deed, you can do so directly from the county clerk's office.
