The Bills are back at practice this week trying to right the wrongs from a disappointing loss in Los Angeles last weekend.
Coming off their 44-42 setback to the Rams, they face another tough test on Sunday in the 12-1 Lions in Detroit.
The Bills defense had one of its worst outings of the season against L.A., allowing Matthew Stafford and company to carve them up in the passing game and the running game.
For head coach Sean McDermott, it starts on the front lines, with an attitude to win the physical battles.
"You better bring your heart. You better bring your guts. You better put it on the line. You better give max effort," McDermott said.
McDermott said it’s about having a sense of urgency right from the start of the game, and they’ll need it in their showdown against the high-powered Lions attack.
"We’re watching the film and we’re trying make corrections. Do our best to make corrections. And when we’re going out there, just being more violent, more physical and just getting off blocks and making plays," cornerback Taron Johnson added.
The Rams and Bills combined for 902 yards of offense without a turnover, while Buffalo's 42 points were the most scored in a loss in franchise history. A team scored at least 42 points and lost for just the 22nd time in NFL history. Josh Allen passed for 342 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 82 yards and three more scores for the Bills (10-3), who hadn't lost since Oct. 6 in Houston. He became the first player in NFL history with three passing TDs and three rushing TDs in a game.
"I’m not pressing no panic button. I’m confident in this team, in their ability to go out there and make plays and get off the field when we need to. It’s going to start this week in practice and go into this game against Detroit. I’m not worried about snapping back or anything like that. I think we’re all fired up and ready to go play," defensive tackle DaQuan Jones said.
On the injury report, Taylor Rapp and Rasul Douglas did not practice Wednesday and they’ll see how it goes this week. Keon Coleman and Dalton Kincaid both did practice in full after missing the past few games.
